Jessica O'Toole Portfolio

Periodical

This was a project for a graduate class in Victorian Literature at North Carolina State University. As editor, I led a team of classmates in producing a digital issue of a periodical modeled after the feminist periodical press. I recruited contributors, as well as designing and building the layout of the publication.

Lady Machiavelli Presentation

For the English Honors Program at NCSU, I utilized technology to create an innovative, immersive, 360 degree presentation on Macbeth in the Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery. Engaging with feminist scholarship of Michelle Tolman Clarke, I read Lady Macbeth as  Machiavellian character, exploring how Marion Cotillard’s performance of Lady Macbeth fully embodies Machiavellian traits, denaturalizing gender norms and disrupting ideologies about power. Here I provide a selection of slides in a format conducive to your computer screen. Click the link below to view the full presentation in Google slides.
